The project area was provided by the Kirchberg Fund, which also owns it, the area is about 4500m2, with a length of about 350 meters.
The area can be divided into four areas (land belts), which are separated by rows of trees and shrubs. In the center there is a large sculpture on a clear area that marks the central point of the site. The stripes are spaced approximately 12 meters apart and taper towards the European school due to the triangular shape.

The plot hosts the project Arboretum, which represents a collection of protected plant species from all over Europe that can grow in Luxembourg. The selection of the species for the project was done by the Natural History Museum in Luxembourg, which is responsible for the scientific management of the atypical collection.
The planned outdoor classrom will be integrated into the existing plantations of the Arboretum. As the concept of the park already offers the best starting conditions for a diverse flora and fauna, tools and project will be adapted to the existing conditions.
The plot was chosen for the reasons of its great location and easy access for the project’s target groups. Such accessibility can provide greater value and benefit to the users of the space. Moreover, the plot’s proximity to the European School of Luxembourg plays an essential role in the facilitation of the educational component of the project.
A complete list of all planted species in the Arboretum can be found here.
The outlines of the site can be viewed in the Geoportail.
